Regardless of where you are in life, having an extra $1,000 a month can help you with your budget, and to deal with emergencies more easily. Below I’ll go over the way to make an extra $1,000 a month online that anyone can do.

1. Freelance Writing

Freelance writing is my best tip for you, and it’s something I did starting out. I know it’s possible to make $1,000 a month or more because I’ve done it. You don’t need any experience, either. Here are some tips for getting into this gig.

Those who do best are people who know the English language and have the right tools. For example, Grammarly helps you with your grammar and is free to use.

Copyscape might be essential if you’re writing for online blogs. That way, you’re not plagiarizing other people’s work. If you love writing but want to keep your work for yourself, consider creating a blog.

While there are ways to monetize your blog, you can start off using it as a stepping stone and a resume of sorts which will help you land writing gigs.

There are countless ways to write online and get paid:

  • Ghostwrite articles, blogs, and books
  • Write articles for various websites
  • Blog for particular brands and businesses
  • Write landing pages for websites
  • Write sales copy pages

Even if you are new to the game, it’s possible to make $50 per hour while writing. Just work 20 hours a month to earn $1,000 extra. There are many ways to get into freelancing, such as websites that find gigs for you. It takes some research to learn what they are and how to access them, but it’s worth it in the end.

2. Teach Others

Online teaching has become the way of the world. Other countries know that English is the top language, so it benefits them to learn it well. You likely need a degree if you plan to use websites to get these types of jobs.

Some online platforms allow people to create courses for children of all ages for just about every topic imaginable. Plus, you don’t require a teaching degree for those. Kids love learning new things, so put your hobby to use. Whether you knit, crochet, or offer photography, you can show others what to do and make about $35 an hour.

Online tutoring is another way you can earn money without leaving your home. There are many tutoring jobs suitable for beginners who want flexible hours. As a tutor, how much you charge will depend on what subject you’re teaching and your expertise but, on average, tutors can charge between $35-$60 an hour.

3. Proofread

Online proofreading is a great way to stay at home and earn money. As a proofreader, you read written documents and check for any errors. If you find any, you correct them with the goal of sending back a perfect paper.

Proofreading is a freelancing gig. This means it’s flexible so you can set your own schedule all while making some extra money. It is also a specialized job, so you will need some experience and understanding of how to proofread effectively.

Check out this free informative webinar that shows you how to start out proofreading.

You don’t have to go to school, it’s possible to learn online about what you need to know. Create your own company, or use a website that finds gigs for you. Then, apply for jobs you are qualified to do.

4. Social Media Manager

Social media is a great way to promote blogging content. Running a business, such as a blog, means you don’t have a lot of time on your hands. People like me use VAs and social media managers to deal with the behind-the-scenes things involved with running a social media account.

You could be responsible for researching trends, creating pins / social media posts, and scheduling posts on social media. This type of work doesn’t require a huge investment; typically, you can start with a laptop. As you build your reputation, you can scale large projects to make $1,000 or more each month.

In the past, becoming a social media manager required a degree. Nowadays, companies focus on the results you can get.

5. Virtual Assistant

Many people start off as virtual assistants before they move on to other things. Virtual assistants are people who help companies run their businesses. It sounds simple because it is! As a virtual assistant, you could:

  • Respond to emails
  • Write blog comments
  • Declutter email inboxes
  • Write copy for landing pages and sales brochures
  • Schedule virtual meetings and appointments

Typically, virtual assistants specialize in something particular. For example, you might specialize in managing a company’s Pinterest account. Many websites list virtual assistant gigs that you can apply for. You can also create your own virtual assistant company.

The route you take will depend on how much time you have and how much you want to invest. Even if you have no prior experience, if you’re hard-working and determined, you can become a VA.

6. Sell Stuff

If you need money fast and don’t have time to research various side hustles, it can be beneficial to sell your unwanted stuff.

You’ve probably got tons of things lying around that could make you $1,000 or more. Most people aren’t going to do this every month, but it’s a quick way to go about it if you really need money.

Things you can sell online to make money include:

  • Kids toys and clothes
  • Books
  • Adult clothing
  • Furniture
  • Tools
  • Sporting equipment
  • Kitchen gadgets
  • Home décor items

It’s possible to sell locally on various social media websites, such as Facebook Marketplace. This way, you may have people visiting your home to pick things up or be required to deliver. You can find options to sell items from home through various apps. For example, Gazelle offers to sell old electronics, while thredUP sells clothing.

Have a spring cleaning (any time of the year), and find things you can sell that you don’t want. It’s fun and gives you more space to buy new items or rearrange your home.

7. Make And Sell Items On Etsy

Look around the house for vintage items and sell them on Etsy. You can make things to sell, too. This is an easy money-maker for people who have talent and time to create. Many people have made tons of cash by crocheting or knitting and selling their goods on Etsy.

While it takes a little capital to buy the supplies, you can easily make it back and much more. I find that these tips can ensure that you’re successful while selling on Etsy:

  • Write a clear description
  • Take excellent photos of the items
  • Communicate efficiently with buyers and shoppers
  • Include keywords so that the items are searchable
  • Research what sells best and what people prefer to buy

8. Make Printables And Sell Them

Printables are currently a huge business, and it’s easy to make $1,000 or more a month just by selling them.

You can use a program like Google Slides or Canva to create the printables and sell them through Shopify or another e-commerce website.

Check out my printables store!

Here are just a few ideas:

  • Educational printables
  • Devotionals
  • Checklists
  • Emergency binder printables
  • Parenting printables
  • Home management printables (schedules, etc.)

Some of these may be seasonal. For example, educational printables are in higher demand when summer hits, and parents want to keep their kids busy. You can also consider finding niche e-commerce sites where you can sell them, such as Teachers Pay Teachers.

9. Be An Online Researcher

When you’ve got a question about something, what do you do? Most people go to Google, but you could answer other people’s questions and get paid for it.

These online research jobs pay you to find answers to various questions that people ask. For example, Wonder is a website that pays you to gather statistics, recommend services and products, or study the trends of a particular industry.

Active researchers can make up to $2,000 a month by working at home. Those who don’t have tons of spare time can make $1,000 a month by answering questions.

User testing is similar and pays you for your time. With this, you are testing websites and reporting about what you liked or didn’t like about them. You can easily make extra money by doing this.

10. Create And Sell Courses

While many websites focus on children’s learning needs, you can create courses specifically for adults and sell them online, too. These don’t have to be live, either. Create a class that’s self-paced, list it on your preferred teaching platform, and enjoy some extra money when people buy it.

This is a great way to earn a passive income while at home. You can use other ideas to make money while you’re doing this one. For example, you create a course that costs $100. Sell 10 every month to make $1,000 of passive income.

I know it’s tough to figure out how to start, but these tips can help:

  • Choose an interesting topic that you are passionate about and understand
  • Make sure others want to learn about that topic
  • Create a detailed course that’s not overwhelming
  • Keep the class engaging and interesting
  • Write a description when you go to sell it; include keywords and make it convincing
  • Answer questions promptly

You can find many platforms that help you set up the online course and sell it. Thinkific and Teachable are two of my favorites. Most of them charge fees to use the site, but you can find free trials. Plus, you’re investing in your future.

11. Create A Blog

Have you noticed that everyone you know seems to have a blog? Even grandmothers and young adults are breaking into the market. If you don’t already have one, now is the time. It’s possible to make money with a blog. Die-hards can make up to seven figures a month. There’s potential here, but you have to be realistic.

Here is the best guide for creating a successful blog and how I grew Money Tamer. If you go this route, expect it to take close to 2 years before you’re making $1,000/month.

With a plan, there could come a time where you’re making $1,000 a month with your blog. This takes effort and isn’t going to happen after a day. You wil have to work for it.

Ways to make money with a blog consist of:

  • Sponsored posts
  • Ads
  • Selling your products
  • Affiliate sales
  • Offering services through the blog

The way you make money with your blog is completely up to you. Some methods are going to be better than others based on your niche, topic, and preferences.

Those who want to start a blog and make money are going to need a domain name, a website host, and a topic to write about. Work on monetizing it once you’ve gotten the basics covered.

12. Be An Online Transcriber

Some people don’t enjoy reading as much as typing. You may not be able to easily string words together to make engaging sentences. That doesn’t mean the freelance life isn’t for you.

I know many people who like to type, but not read or create, so they become online transcriptionists. It’s possible to take podcasts, audio recordings, and videos and type everything that’s said within them.

Many companies offer remote transcription jobs online, so this is an excellent side gig with a lot of earning potential. It’s possible to have a flexible schedule, but it is specialized. Upfront training is best, but you can learn as you go with a few websites.

13. Become An Online Scopist

What the heck is a scopist? It’s not something you hear every day, but scoping is a great option to earn money online. Most people haven’t heard of it, making it suitable for those who want something unique and different.

In a sense, scopists edit the transcripts of court reporters. The reporter records the court proceedings through steno writers. These writers create the transcript of the proceedings. As the scopist, you edit the transcript to ensure that everything’s translated correctly.

It’s a mixture of transcription and proofreading, but scopist jobs are the most similar to editor jobs. This is a legitimate career that you can do from home, and it’s possible to make $1,000 or more each month. Such a job might be hard to come by if you don’t live in an area with a full court system, but it’s worth a shot.

14. Own A Virtual Bookkeeping Business

Do you enjoy working with numbers and math? If so, this might be the best side hustle to make money. Virtual bookkeepers help small business owners and bloggers manage their money so that they focus on other needs.

You don’t need a degree to be a virtual bookkeeper, though it helps to have bookkeeping training and the right software. With a little research, you could get hired on with an established virtual bookkeeping company, as well. Just make sure that remote working is allowed before you apply.

15. Read Emails And Get Paid

This doesn’t sound legitimate at first, but it is. I didn’t even realize it was a thing, but I did some research, and you can get paid to check emails. There are two ways to do this:

  • Start or join an email decluttering service
  • Sign up with survey websites and read the emails delivered to the inbox

I’m not a huge fan of survey websites because most of them are a waste of time. There are some legit survey sites out there, so if you want to research them and utilize them, that’s up to you and a great way to earn extra cash.

The email decluttering service intrigued me, so I looked into it. Basically, you’re a virtual assistant with the sole responsibility of managing a person’s inbox. It sounds great because it is.

You work from home and can make $1,000 a month if you book enough clients. This option might take time to set-up and learn about, but it’s excellent for stay-at-home parents who need extra cash.

16. Online Stylist

I’m not fashionable and know very little about trends, but if you do, use it to make $1,000 a month. It’s quite easy to start this type of side hustle, and websites are out there to help.

For example, at Stella & Dot, you sign up to be an ambassador and receive an online storefront to manage. The company holds the inventory for you, which is one less thing to worry about.

As the stylist, you sell skincare products and jewelry without having to host parties or leave the house. It’s quite easy to make money and offers flexible hours. If you enjoy this sort of thing, this could be a great side job to take on.

17. Teach Yoga Online

While anyone can create a video and post it on YouTube, it’s tough to get paid that way. With many niche websites out there, you can use your yoga skills and love for teaching others to make $1,000 a month.

Pretzel Kids is a great online platform that teaches kids how to do yoga and relax. You can join and work from home. In-person classes are available from the site, too. This allows you to choose the best method of teaching for you.

Keep in mind that there is some investment required upfront. Teachers on Pretzel Kids earn up to $50 per hour once the business is launched. Namaste!

18. Be A Facebook Ads Manager

Facebook ads are a huge deal right now for businesses and bloggers to promote their websites. No one seems to have time to create ad campaigns to help convert visitors and make more sales.

If you know how to use Facebook effectively, you could make lots of extra money just by managing the ads on Facebook for multiple companies.

19. Flip Websites

Website flipping is a big business these days!

20. Passive Income

While there’s not true passive income, there are ways to put in the work upfront so that way additional earnings are earned passively. In fact, most millionaires have 7 streams of income and many of them earn passively once established.

Many of the ideas listed above can be set up in a way to earn passively once you’re established. Think about it, once a course is created, you can keep earning money by selling the course without putting in more effort in creating the course aside from minor updates.

If you’re able to scale your course sales or digital product creation, this can be an excellent source of passive income down the road.

21. Shop Online And Earn Money

Whether you don’t want to leave the house or you just prefer the convenience of online shopping, it’s a great tool for you. Plus, you can easily make extra money by shopping. There are countless cash back apps out there that pay you money as you shop from their partner stores.

It works for in-person shopping, too. The top three are Rakuten, Dosh, and Ibotta. With Rakuten, you get up to 14 percent cashback when shopping at partner retailers. Ibotta offers cashback when you buy groceries and shop at retail stores, which is quite helpful when you’re on a tight budget.

Dosh gives cash back at restaurants and various retail stores. Use as many of these apps as you can to add earnings to your account just by shopping for things you already need.

22. Find Gigs For Various Things

Fiverr and other websites always have people who need help doing something. You can scroll through the many jobs available and pick one that sounds interesting or easy.

The creators of these jobs can charge what they want, so you’re at their mercy. But, you can earn a lot of money, depending on how much work you do.

23. Dropshipping

When I first learned about dropshipping, I thought it was a joke, but it’s real. Basically, it is a method of selling goods through supply chain management.

You don’t have the goods available in stock. When someone places an order through your e-commerce site, the information is sent to the retailer, wholesaler, or manufacturer that you work with.

It sends the goods to the customer directly. You collect profits from the difference in price and any sales commissions that the wholesaler offers. This is an excellent option because you don’t ship the items or have to store them.

24. Advertising

Advertising is found everywhere. Some of the best advertising campaigns are the ones where you don’t even realize you’re being advertised to.

Some of the most popular ways to get paid for advertising are through online channels like blogs or YouTube but social media is another way. Not every method requires an internet presence though.

What Can You Do With Extra Income?

There are endless things to do with that extra money. The thing I suggest doing is starting an emergency savings account. That way, if your car breaks down, you’ve got a way to fix it, while continuing to live the lifestyle you are accustomed to.

You could also consider paying down your debt to become debt-free. While it might not seem glamorous, I think most people will sleep better at night knowing they don’t have significant amounts of debt hanging over their heads.

If you’ve gotten behind on some of the bills, you can use the extra cash to pay them and get caught up. This boosts your credit score and can help you in the long-run.

If your debt is paid off, you could start creating a financial goal strategy or work your way toward your goals. For example, you may want to start saving money to retire, to send the kids to school, or to go on vacation.

Regardless of what you choose to do with the money, you aren’t going to feel as anxious about the finances. One thing I always disliked was worrying about bills. You’re more confident now because you’re earning extra income.

Whether you’re using this as your primary income or as a way to boost what you earn, you will need to do research and find out what you need.

The options above are some of my favorite ways to make money online. Some of them are things you can do every month, and others might be one-offs, but they all will boost the income you have coming in.

Can You Make $1,000 A Week Online?

This is a steep goal, but it is doable. You may need to put in the effort, and pay your dues, before you’re earning big bucks with a blog.

It’s possible to freelance write enough to make $1,000 a week, if you choose the right company to work with. You could also consider finding your own clients and charging them the rate you set.

With two side hustles, you can easily earn $1,000 a week, but there are other options too. You should consider trying various side hustle gigs at the same time to help boost your earnings. Just make sure you don’t overwork yourself or you may get burned out fast.

It’s a good idea to take a long look at the skills you have, and how you can turn it into money.

Decide how much time you have to invest and go from there. You can try different things to find out which ones pay more and are the easiest to do.

What Is Passive Income And Why You Want It?

Passive income means that you do nothing and money rolls in each week or month. You can make $1,000 or more each month with passive income, and the best way is through a blog.

It’s important to do your research and realize that it takes time, but you can make money from affiliates and ads.

If you don’t want to create a blog, other passive income ideas include:

  • Create a YouTube channel and monetize it
  • Write ebooks and sell them
  • Create a simple niche website and try your hand at affiliate marketing
  • Create and sell online courses

These are primarily low-stress, easy ways to make $1,000 or more each month without doing a lot. They do take time to set up, but they make you money all the time.

What If You Need To Earn Money Fast?

It takes time to set up your side hustle. If you’re in dire need of money, sell things that you don’t need anymore. Go through the closets and cabinets to find items that might be worth money.

Unload them using social media groups or sell them on various websites. Use some of that earned money to start your side hustle. That way, you can continue having cash come in when you need it.

Conclusion

As you can see, there are endless opportunities to make money online. If you need to make $1,000 a month regularly, you probably want to stick with writing, proofreading, and social media management options. Those jobs are always going to be available. You may not need to lose weight each month or have unused items for sale.

It doesn’t matter why you need the money, knowing that it’s available to earn is helpful. That way, you can invest as much or as little time as you want into the side hustle(s) of your choice.

Whether you just want to earn extra income or make one of these side hustles your full-time at-home job, it’s possible. Anything is attainable with the internet and a little creativity.
